After the lakes of week 2 (& lots of rain), we move on to Genova in Italy & Cannes in the South of France this week.
Read about week 3 here.
Day 1 – We leave Lake Como
Week 3 starts with us leaving Lake Como Italy (see previous blog) after a mammoth storm, with very wet belongings & heading to Genova on the coast.
Day 2-4 – Genova, Italy
Our campsite was located in Genova Pegli, which is about a 20 min train journey to the city.
Genova is a city steeped in history. There is plenty to keep you busy whether it sight seeing; walking around the massive port; visiting the huge aquarium; or eating & drinking in the countless restaurants & bars.
Day 5-7 – Cannes, South of France
Our campsite situated just on the outskirts, just a short bus ride to the city centre, we were keen to explore.
If you haven’t visited before, you probably, like me, have a picture in your mind.
To be honest, I was a bit disappointed. Yes, there are the Super yatchs moored in the marina (many dripping in tacky decor, boasting names which make you ask ‘really?’); fast expensive cars (which because of the traffic, crawl frustratedly along the front) & middle aged women with fake bits & pieces who have spent way too long in the sun! However, there are loads of wannabes, tackily dressed & hoards of tourists trying to look the part: unsuccessfully.
Although it was interesting to see, neither of us were impressed & there was something naff about the place.
Therefore, we are changing our plans & omitting the rest of our stops for the South of France. Tomorrow we will put some miles under our belt & head for Spain & an unplanned stop in Estartit in Catalunya.
