León, is a colonial university town, twinned with Oxford England. It is situated 56 miles NW of Managua, the Capital.
Like Granada, it has a variety of Colonial buildings & numerous historic churches. However, it has a more relaxed atmosphere. It appears to have less poverty, with an abundance of shops selling a variety of goods. Along with the Universities, there is also a large hospital.
There are many long term students here studying Spanish (& other studies) so it has a vibrant culture blend of visitors & locals.
