Although we have been past Murcia many a time on the way to/from the airport, we had never ventured into the city itself. It is a modern Spanish city with most of your international high street shops. Once we had spent considerable time in El Corte Ingles our fav Spanish dept store, we found the old quarter. To be fair though, it was hard for it to live up to some of the amazing cities we visited so far.
Therefore, on the way back we decided to visit Cartegena a coastal town, which we hadn’t really heard much about. It was a real surprise… Much bigger than we thought. We only had time to visit the marina & port due to time; but will definitely be going back to see the rest. From the P&O cruise ship to the super yatch, we were surprised at the ‘up market’ feel of the place. Like a mini Barcelona without the hustle of the tourist crowds.
